Beric and Soda... at night

Beric comes over to wherever Soda is with a bottle of ale in tow.

"It's Popinski, right?"

Beric takes a swig of the ale then passes it to Soda.

OOC: I assume Soda isn't a germaphobe

Soda raises the Ale to his lips, and sits upright at the smell, almost coughing at the scent of the alcohol. "Yes, Soda. And you?" he says as he carefully hands the bottle back to Beric.

Occ: You would assume correctly. Also, responding to the forums... ~at night

"Trust me, thick armor like yours much more effective than none at all!" Soda gives off a hearty laugh "But, in arena, not allowed to use armor. Or weapons even! Bare hands all you have! Plus, more comfortable." He snaps his shorts, laughs, and then looks at Ulric. "You were very good too! You and yellow man both have candle powers. Can I get candle powers?"

Beric laughs with Soda at his armor joke.

Beric chuckles at the candle magic comment. "Depends on if you're a religious man. Would you want them? You seem to be holding your own just fine."

"Yes, is true. Very good at punching things, I do not think candle powers would help me punch more." He pauses, then says "I once knew man like you. He had candle powers like yours."

"What god gave him those candles?" Not having his shield, Beric pulls one of his necklaces from under his armor. Attached to the chain is the gauntlet of Torm. "You can tell a paladin's god from this. We use their symbol to... hit people with candles." Beric smiles. "among other things."

"Candle powers are very good! After this man changed, he had black candle powers..." Soda tries to outline the symbol in the air with his finger. "Looked like scale, with big hammer between sides."

OOC: I'm gonna assume I'd know that symbol given the relation of Torm and Tyr

Beric squints at Soda. "An oathbreaker." Beric takes another swig of the ale and passes it to Soda. "I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say you aren't on good terms now. That symbol was Tyr's by the way, the maimed god."

"Sadly bad man got away. But in ways is good, I leave with life! Life is more valuable than gold." He refuses another sip of ale, then says "shiny man, how can gods be maimed? Gods are candle beings yes?"

Ooc: Beric isn't getting drunk. He's just a social drinker who's drinking buddy just got his brain turned to mush. He needs someone to fill the gap.

"Yeah Popinski, they're candle beings. Tyr is blind and has only one hand. Candle beings can die and be injured like any other being but it is normally done by other candle beings. His followers tend to be a little more violent than the followers of Torm. They're good folk for the most part though. I am sorry about your friend."

"Now that you are free, what's next for you?"

Ooc: he understands that. He's physicly retching at the scent of alcohol. Thus why he drinks the soda.

Ic- "I do not know. I will probably find more people to travel with, I am used to doing jobs for gold. Shadow man said something about mercenaries. Are you mercenary?"

Also, at the thought of candle beings being able to be hurt, Soda's eyes widen.

OOC: So Soda doesn't actually drink alcohol much?

Beric smiles. "Me? Yes and no. I am townmaster of Phandalin, a town that greatly needed protection. The Iron Suns filled that spot. We are Phandalin's defense at the moment and we are looking to grow. If you're looking for a job, you'd have one with us. We need strong fighters for the future and maybe you can even open up a soda shop. Maybe throw on a couple layers of clothes around town though... for the children."

"Yes, clothing is an important part of life. If you are willing to give me place to stay, I will gladly punch things for shiny man."

Ooc: Yup, he absolutely can't stand the taste. But in situations like this (drinking after a hard day of work, and in taverns and stuff, he still likes to feel accepted. Soda was something he had as a kid, and he was used to drinking growing up. Soda Popinski is his "wrestler name" if you will, a nickname he was given in his old adventuring group, because of how much he likes soda.

Well then Popinski, welcome to The Iron Suns. Beric holds out his hand.

*SODA POPINSKI SHAKES THE FUCK OUT THAT SHIT.* "So, boss, what happens now?"

OOC: Popinski would have been the best housecarl in Skyrim

"I talk, you punch."

Beric gestures toward the motionless Lander. "That'd be our quartermaster. When he's up and moving, you'll be training with him. I want you to put my men through the wringer. If they can hold their own against you, they'll do alright against our enemies."

Soda laughs. "If you say so! Is very big complement, I will teach men what I know!" after saying this, he asks "Ehh, who am I training?"

"Oh he's the teacher." Points over his shoulder at Lander. "I want you to fight my men. Spar with them and give them a challenge. They sorely need it. The few soldiers of the The Iron Suns are protecting Phandalin. You'll see them soon."

"Ahh, ok. Soda can punch not evil men too." He laughs, then looks at lander. "He teacher?"

"Ah, i see. What he teach? How to play string box?" Soda points to the lute on lander's back.
