So Charles texted me yesterday and described his character idea to me, an oathbreaker Warforged who was made to serve an evil god, but wanted freedom. Between this, Hearld running a necromancer, and Maggie mentioning running a death cleric, I wanted to make a post addressing these types of characters.

So on the topic of traditionally "Evil" characters, I will allow you to make them. With a few acceptations.

-You have to tie it into your backstory. This is more flavor wise, but keep in mind that most people in this world assume that undead = evil. How would this affect your character as they grew up? Adventuring, was it harder to get the other members of the party to trust your abilities? Do they trust your abilities?

- Try to tie your backstories together. If Charles is able to buff undead, Hearld is able to raise undead, and Maggie is, well, death domain, are you all connected? Were you part of the same cult, but left when you realized how corrupt it was? Did you fight your way out? Ete.

-Why undead? Do you value the balance between Death and life, or is it just the forbidden knowledge you had to reach? This is mostly for Hearld, but for Maggie this is also important.

Alright nice ruling. Just remeber that oathbreakers aura of hate also benefits enemies.

Turn him on his friends and sit back and watch. I can sit in the back and chuck javelins too. We'll be dealing with enemy undead a lot less than friendly undead anyway.

Maleck Torment doesn't bring the dead back to life because he is evil. He is more of a perverse doctor. He has studied life and death for years and the energies that support both, like magic and electricity.

Kind of like a Dr. Frankenstein, not really evil, just curious.

Harold... His last name is Torment. How could he ever not be evil?

Torment from the PHB as a Tiefling surname! Also, eyes are red, but go full black with an Erie green glow when going into a combat situation, thanks to thamaturgey (sp?).

He is tormented

The pathfinder supplement on tieflings is interesting to look at. Has a bunch of different types of tieflings based on the hellion their connected it. Also custom looks.
